Fillon Affair: referral to the ECHR

While the debate is once again brought before the Paris Appeal Court after the cassation obtained by François Fillon (judgment no. 22-83.466 of April 24, 2024), he has referred the matter to the European Court of Human Rights. The former Prime Minister denounces violation, by the French justice system, of independence and impartiality principles guaranteed by Article 6 § 1 of the European Convention on Human Rights, as well as the disregard of the article 7 of this convention, French criminal law does not foreseeably provide that elected officials hold a public service mission and handle public funds.
