Marine Le Pen ineligibility: people’s freedom restricted in the name of “democratic public order”

In its ruling of 31 March 2025, the Paris Criminal Court deprived Marine Le Pen of her right to stand for election for five years and ordered her provisional execution, on the grounds that an irreparable disturbance had been caused to “democratic public order” and that the facts constituted an attack on public confidence in public life. But does this “democratic public order” really exist?
